Pecky Sinker Cypress

Pecky Sinker Cypress is a rare lumber that has holes or pockets throughout. This only occurs in occasional logs, and is not discovered until the log is cut. It forms from the inside out in a circular pattern following the tree’s rings, and when milled, the pattern of holes is completely random. Pecky Sinker Cypress tends to have larger, rougher holes due to the logs’ underwater stay, and like all cypress, Pecky Sinker Cypress is beautiful to look at and extremely durable, resistant to both rot and insects.
Pecky Sinker Cypress can be used for paneling, furniture, beams, and cabinets or furniture. It can be used in combination with other cypress or your lumber of choice for accents.

Sinker Cypress Wide Cuts

Wide Cuts are just as the name suggests – wide, flat pieces of Cypress lumber. These Wide Cuts are actually rare, as the pieces are only found in the dead center of raw, un-milled lumber that boasts a substantial width. Wide Cuts are perfect for the applications of large, flat solid wood surfaces as it enables craftsmen to use just that one piece of lumber instead of gluing together several smaller pieces. It provides a continuous grain pattern throughout the piece of furniture for a stunning visual effect.

Figured Sinker Cypress

Just like Sinker Cypress lumber, Figured Sinker Cypress lumber is a specialty lumber that has been recovered from the woodlands and rivers of northwest Florida. This virgin growth timber is also first generation, Cypress lumber, and is used for both historic restoration and new construction. Figured Sinker Cypress lumber differs slightly from the Sinker Cypress in that it consists of hand-selected cuts that possess a unique or differing grain and/or color characteristics. The combination of these factors and the subsequent color differentials make this wood an exceptionally beautiful product. No two cuts are alike, allowing for visually appealing, unique lumber that can be used for numerous purposes including interior and exterior paneling, trim, moldings, table tops, ceilings and beams.

Sinker Cypress

Sinker Cypress is first generation, river retrieved lumber that is also known as deadhead cypress, river reclaimed cypress, river recovered cypress, old growth cypress, and virgin cypress. This quality old growth lumber was cut from 1890 to 1930, and then rafted down the rivers of northwest Florida to different sawmills in the region. A certain percentage of the lumber was lost or sunk on its journey, and these recovered sinker logs are now sawn into Sinker Cypress lumber for both historic restoration and new construction.

Using rediscovered wood helps preserve our forests by utilizing timber harvested hundreds of years ago while also providing a higher quality lumber. This old virgin cypress timber has very tight growth rings, making it denser while increasing stability and durability. Sinker Cypress is used primarily for interior and exterior paneling, tongue & groove, trim, ceilings, moldings, table tops, and beams.

Tidewater Cypress

Tidewater Cypress lumber grows in local river swamps in Northwest Florida, where the trees have learned to adapt to the most unfavorable conditions and the high humidity. These conditions can cause factors such as rot, decay, mold and fungus, but Tidewater Red Cypress naturally protects itself by creating a highly concentrated natural oil substance called Cypressene. This substance is present throughout the wood, and because of this, no chemical treatments are ever necessary. Thanks to the Cypressene, Tidewater Cypress has a tight grain pattern, is decay resistant, and is an excellent product for both interior & exterior applications.
